Protect Our Pacific Coast from Oil Spills
Tell our government that they must heed the warning from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It's time for a permanent tanker ban on Canada's Pacific Coast.
Enbridge Inc wants to bring the first ever crude oil supertankers to Canada's Pacific north coast, home of the Great Bear Rainforest. These supertankers would bring with them the risk of a catastrophic oil spill, such as is unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico and has already occurred with the Exxon Valdez.
We can't let this happen. Please, consider signing the petition below for a legislated oil tanker ban. It will be submitted to Parliament, which has a real and realistic opportunity to move legislation before the next election. Your voice will count.

Petition Text:
We the undersigned citizens of Canada draw the attention of the House to the following:
Enbridge Inc.'s proposed Northern Gateway project would bring the first ever bulk crude oil tankers to BC's northern coast. With the movement of oil, spills are inevitable. A single large spill, or several smaller ones over time, could be devastating to the already vulnerable marine ecosystems upon which people and communities in BC depend. It is time to respect the wishes of the vast majority of British Columbians and protect our magnificent coast.
Your petitioners call upon Parliament to create a permanent, legislated ban on oil tankers to protect our coast forever.
