Tahltan Evict Shell
In 2005 representatives of the Tahltan demand that Shell halt all coalbed methane drilling and exploration in their traditional territory, which includes BC's Sacred Headwaters
"In June 2005 four Shell Canada employees came to the band office in the small Tahltan village of Iskut. There, they were greeted by a group of Tahltan elders and children wearing regalia, beating drums and carrying signs saying, “Stop Shell”…”Save our land”. It wasn’t the welcoming ceremony they expected. The elders gathered and read the Shell employees a notice evicting Shell from their territory. The local chief, Louis, quietly asked that Shell, “please go away…leave us alone.” The Shell representatives quickly got back in their truck and drove away."

"I was going to put my $100 toward improving the bicycle I ride every day, but the thought of Shell Oil destroying the ecosystem of the North by drilling for coal-bed methane in the Sacred Headwaters area breaks my heart."
