Details
In January/07 28 000 ha of land on southern Vancouver Island was quietly privatized by the Liberal Government. Despite an enormous wave of protest from community members, land owners made plans to develop large sections of this area for real estate and commercial use. On Aug. 12 the Shirley/Jordan River Advisory Planning Commission will meet to discuss weather the area should remain as Forest Resource Land or be subdivided into less than 300 acre parcels (presumably leading to development). This is your chance to speak out and protect a beautiful section of land before its paved over. In a small meeting like this every voice counts so please come and be heard.
