A Celebration of our Wild West Coast, Culture and Cuisine
As we welcome the changing season, we would like to take some time to think about the beautiful environment, the amazing people, and the brilliant cuisine that we have here on Vancouver Island. That is our inspiration behind this month's 100 mile dinner. Using local talent from Victoria's hospitality industry, we are lining up a delicious three course dinner using all ingredients that are sourced no farther than 100 miles from here (yes, even the salt)
As well as featuring local food, this Ode to the Coast dinner will celebrate the CRD’s recent decision to block urban sprawl along the Juan de Fuca trail.
The dinner will be held at Cabin 12 and will feature the professional cooking skills of Landon Crawford (Ulla Restaurant), and Samuel Harris (Choux Choux Charcuterie). They will be dishing up a 3 course meal; the final menu continues to take shape, but you can expect a unique twist on pumpkin soup, some wild chanterelles, and specialty heirloom tomatoes on your plate. You can be assured that even the salt will be sourced from within 100 miles and the flavours will make your taste buds rejoice.
Bartender Eric Nordal (Bard and Banker) will be creating a locally inspired cocktail as well as other pairings to compliment the evening's cuisine. We also expect to have some local musical talent, and The Dogwood Initiative will be giving a short presentation about the recent victory along the Juan de Fuca trail, their latest campaigns and what you can do to get involved.
These 100 mile dinners have been held every couple of months for the past two years and new partnerships are constantly forming. The venue, cooks and theme changes nearly every dinner, and we are particularly excited about the unique combination this month. The last couple of dinners at Nourish Bistro in Glendale Gardens have been very popular; we look forward to a full house.
Tickets are $20 and you can pick yours up from the following sources:
