Come out to a free screening of "Island on the Edge," a documentary by local film maker Nick Versteeg. This film explores the history of food production on Vancouver Island and reveals the deep dependence that has been created in the last few decades on the global food system in our region. The film highlights the work that local food advocates are doing and suggests ways in which people may become more involved in supporting the local food movement.

Following the film, there will be short presentations about recent land use proposals that threaten limited farmland in Central Saanich. There will also be a brief discussion about ways that people may become involved in the local food movement by further informing others and taking action against the development of valuable farmland in our region.
