BC's Climate Contradiction

Our provincial government is claiming to aggressively lead the struggle against climate change, yet it consistently seeks to expand all manner of fossil fuel extraction across BC (e.g. through oil and gas subsidies), essentially exacerbating the fundamental cause of climate change.

2008 BC Budget: $1 billion for climate change programs...$1.3 billion for oil and gas subsidies

We identify this as the most pressing policy contradiction in BC today. Towards the assertion of local control over resources, and to ween our government off the addiction of fossil fuels, we are campaigning against an enormous fossil fuel project in BC's Sacred Headwaters.
