Emma worked as a reporter and editor before making the jump to the non-profit world. In 2007, Emma created an environment column and website at the Calgary Herald that won an Alberta Emerald Award and a Canadian Newspaper Association Great Ideas award.
Before joining Dogwood Initiative, Emma was the B.C. Communications Lead and Social Media Manager for the Pembina Institute. Originally from northern Alberta, Emma has a Bachelor of Applied Communications in Journalism from Mount Royal University and a Certificate in E-Marketing from the Canadian Marketing Association. Her writing has appeared in publications across Canada and the U.K., including the Globe and Mail, the Financial Post and the BBC website.
